ECS is seeking talented and motivated individuals seeking a college degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information security or related field(s) to join our program for a rewarding summer internship. Join our successful and growing team in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats. ECS is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete ‘Data Services’ solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is an integrated suite of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products, software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as an integrated solution tailored to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while gaining firsthand experience in a dynamic, collaborative and challenging environment where problem-solving, critical thinking, and a holistic approach to serving the mission are key. Our program operates within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). An aptitude and enthusiasm for continuous learning, improvement, and cyber security is a must!

  • Learn about Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana (ELK) technology stack and the CDM Data Services mission / capabilities
  • Learn about cloud technologies
  • Learn about Jira and Confluence and associated plugins to help improve content, workflows, layout, etc.
  • Help support program operations with administrative tasks, internal training / tutorials, metric collection, analysis and reporting, and preparation for program milestones
  • Learn about and support agile processes across the program including:
  • Working with teams to ensure high data quality of work planned in Jira via dashboards and follow up with teams
  • Work with team members and scrum masters to help facilitate team events, including (where applicable) the Daily Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospectives
  • Assist the self-organizing, self-managing team to achieve its goals
  • Help enrich the quality of tasks, write tasks, identify dependencies, and organize work in Jira
  • Facilitate the removal of impediments
  • Promote SAFe quality practices – SAFe provides guidance to assist the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables and meeting the Definition of Ready (DOR) and Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Facilitate preparation and readiness for Agile Release Train (ART) events – Assist the team in preparation for ART activities, including PI Planning, Sprint Reviews, Demos and Retrospectives.
