This summer internship opportunity seeks an undergraduate student majoring in electronics or materials engineering with experience in thin film material deposition and materials characterization. This work would support the scientists located at the Wright Patternson AirForce base in the Air Force Research labs, thus U.S. Citizenship is required. Work includes utilization of a vacuum deposition chamber system which combines in situ ellipsometry with magnetron sputtering and pulse laser deposition to make thin films of interest. Characterization techniques are used as needed for composition thickness measurements includes the following: XPS, XRD, XRR, SEM, TEM, and ellipsometry. For these techniques we have experts who can typically make the measurements, and the opportunity to learn to operate the equipment as well if needed.
