Internship Program Overview: Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer. Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of NYCEDC's many dynamic departments. Summer interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program. Department Overview: The Innovation Industries Department seeks to understand the rapidly changing landscape of NYC's key economic sectors and to conceive, develop, and implement innovative programs that address specific sector challenges and opportunities. Innovation Industriesâ projects are agile, strategic, and impact focused. We create, launch, and manage programs that partner with and impact the following industries and sectors, as well as support diverse entrepreneurship: urban innovation & sustainability, gaming, fashion, emerging & applied technology, AI/ML, blockchain and web3, cybersecurity, fintech, and life sciences.â Our mission is to set the global standard for the creation of partnerships, programs, and innovations that catalyze a more equitable and sustainable economy. The Tech and Creative team develops, launches, and manages programs that partner with, bolster, and support diverse entrepreneurship within the following industries and sectors: emerging and applied technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, quantum computing, cybersecurity, and blockchain/Web3; as well as creative economy industries such as gaming, fashion, and media and entertainment.

Requirements

  • Preferred field(s) of study: Public Policy, Economic Development, Urban Planning, and/or sector-specific programs are a plus, or related field.
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Tech and Creative team in all aspects of the project management lifecycle, including strategic analysis, financial analysis, contract and procurement planning and management, partnership development, and project implementation
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis on tech and creative industries as well as emerging trends in NYC and globally, including stakeholder interviews as necessary
  • Create presentations and memoranda that effectively communicate research findings, project insights, and/or project recommendations to multiple audiences
  • Help project teams plan, coordinate, and execute strategic events
  • Other duties as assigned
