About The Position

The Intern, HW Test Engineer – OEM Validations primary responsibilities will be to analyze and duplicate/improve a second HW Antenna Interface Helper Test Fixture used during SiriusXM Hardware Type Approval process. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work both independently and within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university (those graduating by May 2027 are preferred) and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship.
  • The candidate should be pursuing a bachelors degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in automotive sound manufacturers (radio head units, telematics systems, navigation systems, etc.); Mobile telephone systems; Satellite receivers/antennae or automotive engine controllers preferred.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Understanding of the embedded verification process including development of verification test plans and test benches, digital simulation, and scripting
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows OS, MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • The ideal candidate will have some experience in developing with C#, LabVIEW and DIAdem.
  • Hardware circuit design knowledge in the areas of power supplies, RF and/or audio amplifiers and microprocessors is preferred. The candidate should have familiarity with hardware-level debugging tools such as Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, DMM, Power Meters, Noise Figure Meters, and Network Analyzers.
  • Knowledge of OEM automotive electrical and audio systems.
  • RF and/or audio fundamentals is desired.
  • A high-level of personal computer proficiency is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance existing Antenna Interface Test automation using C# and/or LabVIEW.
  • Collaborate with a LabVIEW subject-matter expert to support software and hardware updates for Hardware Type Acceptance and OEM Module DVP&R Test Stations, including:
  • Update and/or create DIAdem-based reporting scripts and templates
  • Enhancing LabVIEW test engines
  • Document current Antenna Interface Test hardware, including creation of schematics and a comprehensive list of valid commands.
  • Perform hardware type acceptance testing in the SiriusXM Farmington Hills, Michigan laboratory, as required.
