The Equipment Engineering Summer Intern will support Facilities Automation & Engineering at Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals by contributing to projects that enhance the performance, reliability, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment. This internship offers hands-on exposure to engineering activities within a GMP manufacturing environment, including system testing, equipment improvements, and cross-functional collaboration. The intern will work closely with engineers, facilities teams, and external vendors to support critical manufacturing operations. This is an 11-week Summer Internship Program paying $21.00 per hour and requires full-time, onsite work five days per week at the designated location.

Requirements

Currently enrolled student at an accredited university or college, sophomore level or higher focused in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or similar.
Demonstrated interest in engineering systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting in group settings.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Willingness and ability to spend 75% of the workday in walking around the facility and 25% at a desk

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with engineering drawings, including Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangement Drawings, and Control Wiring Drawings.
Experience working with third-party vendors.
Exposure to troubleshooting and resolving equipment-related challenges.
Hands-on experience interacting with automated equipment in a manufacturing setting.
Interest in working within a regulated GMP environment.

Responsibilities

Support commissioning and qualification activities for manufacturing equipment
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to identify and implement improvements to manufacturing equipment.
Assist with updating documentation and supporting the engineering change process within a GMP environment.
Participate in cross-functional efforts to troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with repairs.
Communicate project status and updates on ongoing repairs and engineering activities.
Support multiple engineering teams in commissioning and qualification efforts across Verona manufacturing facilities.
