About The Position

This full-time, 8-week internship provides the opportunity to develop new skills and to consider career possibilities in the museum education field. Under the supervision of the Manager of Community and Family Programs, and working with other Learning & Engagement colleagues, this position will support a wide range of summer programs and participate in the planning process for future events. The Community and Family Programs Intern will learn about a variety of museum education initiatives, exercise their creativity, and work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the institute. Rodgers’ internships are for current students at Williams College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA).

  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Applicants must be current students at Williams College or Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA). Position open to junior and senior students.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with staffing family and community programs, including Weekly Summer Art-Making (Thursdays, July and August, 1-4 pm), Giorgio Griffa-themed activities (Fridays, August, 1-4 pm) and Community Day (July 12, 10-5 pm), providing a warm, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all visitors.
  • Prepare materials for art-making activities for summer programs (ranging from 100-2,000 participants)
  • Draft event ephemera (art-making instructions, wayfinding signage, etc.)
  • Research and develop art-making activities, potential collaborations for upcoming events, and participate in brainstorming meetings with the team to generate new engagement ideas.
  • Assist with mailings, newsletters, and other efforts to build relationships with family and community audiences
  • Maintain public engagement spaces such as ArtLab and the Postcard Station.
  • Other duties as assigned (and/or imagined depending on the intern’s interest and experience)
