About The Position

Volkswagen Group of America’s 10 – week Summer Internship Program targets undergraduate students entering their Junior or Senior years who are eager to acquire practical, real-world experience in the automotive industry. This program is designed for high potential, highly mobile, and self-starter candidates with a strong interest in the automotive industry. Focused on the development of professional and technical competencies as well as on-the-job-training, our Summer Internship Program is an excellent opportunity to explore career choices early on. At Volkswagen Group of America, interns have the chance to make an impact because we challenge them and trust them to perform meaningful work. The Body Shop Planning Intern will support the evaluation of equipment impacts related to new products and engineering changes. This role involves managing cross-functional teams and suppliers from concept to production, defining investment needs, ensuring stakeholder alignment, and developing process plans. The intern will also contribute to improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost through system modifications and resource planning.

Requirements

  • A rising college Junior, Senior or recent graduate
  • Strong GPA
  • Strong understanding of Engineering Methodology
  • Knowledge of Lean Concepts
  • Strong logical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for Mechanical Engineering majors

Responsibilities

  • Support Body Shop Planning engineers in overseeing and managing projects.
  • Develop and/or update specifications for new and existing manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Lead and/or monitor external contractors during equipment installations and modification activities.
