Hi there future intern copywriter coworker. Iâm one of the most recent ACD/CW hires and another ACD writer asked me to talk about WIP and the internship opportunity and took notes. Weird writer: this is true. Here are some of the highlights of that conversation. From what I can tell, WIP is making better work in a less stressful way all while caring about their people fiercely. A rare combination. Theyâre small (youâll impact real work), independent (thereâs no some rules, like parking), structurally quite flat (no confusing âwho do I talk to when oh I canât talk to them? Ok, coolâ layers), in each otherâs corners (<3), abnormally transparent (I copy pasted some of this from last yearâs), pleasantly collaborative (Iâve gone too far to stop this parentheses bit), ego-free (true), and currently enjoying enough momentum to believe theyâre doing something right (WIP just won Ad Age: Small Agency of the Year in 2025, so thatâs good). And making 50 bucks an hour ainât bad. Actually, itâs really good. No wait, it could be bad, we might be setting things at unrealistic expectations. Anywho, weâre looking for someone who can write real good, ideate real gooder, and make us laugh hard enough to forget the time I bought a skateboard as my mid-life crisis. Youâll be writing. Headlines, scripts, ideas, more headlines, actions, more ideas, and more actions. Youâll concept campaigns, contribute to our relentless creative signature, and take on real work for real clients that need a real creative solution. Youâll report to the Partner/CCO, and the Creative Directors. We believe every brand, and person, should be a work in progress. Itâs why the founding partners opened the agency in 2016, and why WorkInProgress helps brands boldly take action, innovate, and create to prove why they exist. Then we use those actions to create the most memorable advertising. As an independent agency, we strive to prove that an agency can care as much about a clientâs business as they do. And that advertising can play a fundamental role in building and growing a company. Weâre always looking for smart, creative, and passionate people that care more about changing a company than winning awards. Inventors more than ad people. Problem solvers more than portfolio puffery pushers. No assholes. No egos. No hiding because you canât do the job. No selfishness. No disrespecting people or their time. Insanely talented, yet incredibly humble. In other words, one in a million. Lucky for us, we want to stay small and independent.
