About The Position

The Summer Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with Summer Program Assistant Teachers, Teachers, and Coordinators to support the success of the Summer Program. This role helps strengthen the overall quality of programming by leading a group of students through daily schedules, implementing and facilitating curriculum activities, and delegate tasks needed by Aides. This position is dedicated to deliver Framingham Public Schools' high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the opportunity gap among subgroups within the schools. Requirements

  • Framingham Public Schools seeks candidates whose background, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of education.
  • Passion and interest in working with children in an academic, recreational, or athletic setting.
  • Should have outstanding leadership, organizational and team-building skills.
  • Ability to support smooth transitions for groups of students throughout the day.
  • To complete one on one check-ins with individual students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, assistant teachers, parents, and coordinators.
  • To use creativity to assist students in specific crafts and activities.
  • To communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, parents, and the general public.
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills to evaluate situations and determine or recommend appropriate courses of action.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Coordinator to develop high-quality after-school programming.
  • Monitor student attendance and academic progress.
  • Assist team members in ensuring a safe, productive, and efficient program for staff and students.
  • Prepare incident reports when necessary.
  • Implement high-quality academic and enrichment curriculum and activities.
  • Motivate students to set and achieve challenging academic and personal objectives.
  • Maintain open communication with families, colleagues, and school staff to aid student development and uphold high expectations.
  • Provide avenues for students to strengthen the link between academic success, college, and career pathways.
  • Foster a culture of accomplishment.
  • Cultivate and utilize relationships with students, families, volunteers, peers, and the school community.
  • Support event logistics related to the program.
  • Facilitate students' success in inclusion programming.
  • Other duties as assigned.
