About The Position

This is a part-time, temporary position. Must be 18 years of age or older. Food for Lane County (FFLC) Summer Food Program provides children with nourishing meals when school meals are not available during the summer. The Rural Delivery Program delivers bagged lunches to children in rural communities across Lane County. This position helps coordinate and deliver meals to Rural Summer Food Program sites while driving a sprinter van. The Rural Delivery Driver works closely with a co-coordinator and other FFLC staff to ensure timely food distribution. This role also supports volunteer coordination, maintains relationships with program participants, and assists with ordering supplies, tracking inventory, and maintaining accurate program records.

Requirements

  • Ability to drive a box truck
  • Current Oregon driver’s license with good driving record, experience driving large trucks preferred
  • Able to obtain Food Handler’s card
  • Ability to perform strenuous and repetitive physical labor; ability to safely lift 50 pounds repetitively
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to all participants and partners
  • Ability to manage stress, be flexible, and respond to unexpected changes

Responsibilities

  • Drive sprinter van to host sites at designated times and set up and distribute food bags.
  • Coordinate ordering, inventory, storage, and distribution of bagged lunches
  • Maintain vehicle and food handling equipment in a safe and sanitary condition
  • Promptly report any vehicle maintenance issues to Operations Director
  • Train and supervise groups of volunteers
  • Complete required daily forms
  • Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and Oregon Food Bank regulations regarding food safety, storage, and handling
  • Maintain accurate and updated program files
  • Deliver program donations
  • Serve as a Site Supervisor when needed
  • Serve as a Site Monitor when needed
  • Assists with meal preparation as needed
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
  • Upholds FFLC’s values of compassion, inclusion, and collaboration
  • Perform other tasks as requested by supervisor
