Summer Food Driver
About The Position
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility . Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Operations, the full time (40 hour per week) YMCA Nutrition Services Truck driver will manage the products, vehicles, and routes assigned to them. Every day the driver is expected to execute the loading and unloading of all trucks in an efficient and accurate manner. Drivers are then expected to run their assigned route to include unloading product in designated areas. The driver is required to conduct basic vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues. This position requires substantial physical effort as well as the usage of high-level customer service and communication skills.
Requirements
- Must have valid Driver’s License, CDL preferred.
- Must be able to perform repeated manual lifting of heavy items over 50 pounds and be skilled in the usage of 2-wheel dollies.
- Ability to manage frequent stops and navigate local area with ease
- Ability to drive safely and work efficiently during inclement weather conditions
- Minimum of 6 months commercial driving experience or 3 months of food service delivery experience
- Proficient in the usage of smartphones and navigation apps
- Able to pass a MVR

- Previous customer service experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Responsible for complying with local traffic regulations
- Report delays, any case of accident, injury or damage of trucks to the supervisor or manager
- Assist in maintaining the company fleet; this includes keeping the truck clean and orderly
- Perform periodic maintenance on trucks, such as Fueling diesel, DEF, and ensuring the Truck is kept clean
- Assist with receiving, transporting, sorting, unloading food boxes, setting up tents, sandwich boards, flags, and yard signs at various sites
- Assist in distributing the food boxes on service days as designated by Summer Food Operations
