About The Position

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, opened on October 1, 1940, is known as “America’s First Superhighway”! Our mission is to operate a safe, reliable, customer-valued toll road system that supports national mobility and commerce. The PTC operates a 565-mile system with over 205 million transactions annually. Together, we are building the highway of the future. Pennsylvania residency is required for summer employment.Job Purpose and SummaryThis position provides support to Traffic Engineering staff on a seasonal basis. Work involves providing assistance to traffic engineers for various engineering projects. Work is subject to frequent direction and review.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Must be currently enrolled into their sophomore, junior or senior year of a post-secondary educational program and be majoring in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering for the upcoming fall semester.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Participates and assists with various traffic engineering projects.
  • Reviews traffic design and construction criteria.
  • Attends meeting, workshops, and professional development trainings on various aspects of organizational business policies and procedures.
  • Performs departmental documentation and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with professional associates, supervisors, and engineering firms.
  • Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.
  • Performs related work as required.
