Engineering Summer Intern
About The Position
Sol Systems is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) committed to building and operating clean energy infrastructure that benefits communities for the long term. We develop, finance, and own solar and storage projects across the United States and partner with utilities, corporations, and local organizations to deliver responsible energy solutions. Sol Systems is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the Engineering Team. The intern will assist with layout development and reviews, energy modeling, process improvement projects, and new technology reviews. Through this position, the intern will learn about engineering design processes, utility scale project development processes, how to run energy models, and how to develop engineering layouts.
Requirements
- Interest in renewable energy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or another STEM-related field
- This role is open to current rising undergraduate juniors and seniors
Nice To Haves
- AutoCAD experience is preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Energy production and batch simulation analysis of proposed Utility Scale PV projects using PVsyst, SIFT, Prospect and/or equivalent tool.
- Complete site layouts and optimization for prospective projects using SIFT, PVcase, and/or equivalent tool
- Assist Engineering Team with building databases and tools to improve existing Engineering processes
- Assist Engineering Team in researching, evaluating and implementing emerging technologies for Utility Scale PV and Storage projects
- Collaborate with different disciplines across Sol Systems to integrate and maintain project data on a project development dashboard
- Assist Engineering Team members with late-stage development, under construction projects, as required
