About The Position

Summer Conference Coordinators (SCC) are responsible for preparing residence halls for incoming conferences, conducting room and building inspections before and after each camp, and managing guest check-in and check-out processes. They serve as a primary point of contact for campers, requiring a professional demeanor, and are responsible for providing clear and accurate information for conference billing. SCCs work under the direct supervision of the Summer Conference Admin and Staffing Coordinator, and collaborate with the Summer Conference Operations Coordinator as needed. Specific duties include staying on campus in the assigned hall when on duty, operating the hall desk alone or as part of a team, and assisting with administrative tasks related to conference arrivals. During conferences, they greet guests, handle check-ins/check-outs, maintain hall security, and provide information and other services. Additional responsibilities involve creating informational signs, managing key and CBORD card inventory, assisting with minor cleaning and repairs, reporting maintenance or vending issues, submitting work orders, and participating in a 24-hour on-call rotation. The role may require working late evenings, early mornings, long hours, and weekends due to the nature of summer conferences, with schedules varying weekly and established one week in advance.

Requirements

  • Be an enrolled student at a UW System school
  • Be in good conduct standing at UWSP, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Have general knowledge of Housing and Residence Life, the campus, and the Stevens Point community
  • Be able to work well with people
  • Possess good leadership, communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently of a supervisor
  • Required to live on campus in the summer

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the residence halls for incoming conferences
  • Participate in room and building inspections prior to and after each camp
  • Facilitate guest check-in and check-out
  • Provide resources and referral to conference participants
  • Stay on campus in the assigned hall when on duty if necessary
  • Routinely work alone, or as part of a team, operating the hall desk
  • Assist in preparing conference check-in procedures and perform other administrative tasks prior to conference arrivals
  • Operate hall desk during conference: greeting guests, performing check-ins/check-outs, maintaining hall security, providing information, and facilitating other services
  • Create informational signs and bulletin boards
  • Maintain key and CBORD card inventory for assigned hall
  • Assist with minor cleaning and repairs throughout the building
  • Call appropriate personnel when maintenance, vending, or laundry problems arise
  • Submit maintenance work orders as necessary
  • Serve in a 24-hour on-call rotation with other SCCs
  • May be required to work some late evenings, early mornings, long hours, and weekends, due to the nature of summer conferences
  • Other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Compensation for work performed will start at $12.00 per hour, plus merit and longevity, based on previous summer Housing and Residence Life experience
  • Free single bedroom in summer hall (Suites @201) is offered to all summer staff while on contract
