About The Position

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities. Value Engineering (VE) is a systematic and structured peer review directed towards analyzing the functions of projects and programs to help them strike a balance between function, performance, quality, safety and cost. The OMB Value Engineering Unit offers VE resources to City Agencies to review and optimize major project designs and processes in order to achieve the best result for the City at the lowest lifecycle cost. The intern will support two core workstreams. First, they will assist with records management and archival organizing, scanning, and digitizing physical documents related to the City's value engineering projects. This work is critical to preserving institutional knowledge and reducing the team’s reliance on paper-based files. Second, the intern will participate in park asset field surveys, conducting on-site condition assessments and component measurements for park infrastructure. The intern will learn to apply standardized assessment criteria, use field measurement tools, and record findings that feed directly into the City's asset inventory and maintenance planning processes.
