About The Position

Are you ready to apply your academic knowledge to real-world projects? Join Otak as a Summer Intern and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. Otak, an award-winning multidisciplinary design and consulting firm, is excited to offer summer internship in our Portland, OR office. In this role, you will: Support the planning and design of municipal infrastructure projects including roadways, stormwater management, utilities, and stream restoration. Assist with stormwater retrofits, flood mitigation, ecological restoration, and field data collection to support hydrologic modeling. Support civil/site design efforts including site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion and sediment control in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. Prepare and revise construction plans and design deliverables using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or GIS. Assist with project coordination, documentation, budget tracking, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and stakeholder communication during construction. Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with construction cost estimating. Provide construction-phase support services, including coordination and field support as needed.

Requirements

  • Current college junior, senior, or graduate level student pursuing a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A well-rounded background, with engagement in academic, professional, and community activities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus
