Because of our growth, we are seeking an experienced Water Civil Design Intern in the Houston, TX area. Join us for an internship experience that offers real-world project involvement within a supportive environment alongside ample opportunities for professional and personal growth. At this time, we are seeking 1 Civil Design Intern in our Katy, TX office for the Summer semester (May/June-August). This internship will be a full-time position working 40 hours a week. The Civil Design Intern will work alongside the Woolpert infrastructure teams working on design projects as well as supporting our task leads. Work can include projects for TxDOT, municipalities, large cities, and counties. All these projects directly impact the communities where we live and work.
Requirements
- Be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status
- Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, with an interest in water related infrastructure design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Exceptional multitasking and time management skills
Responsibilities
- Work as part of the Civil design team on a wide range of projects focused on drainage improvements including channel, detention basin and storm sewer design, along with site work and water distribution projects.
- Gain real-world experience working on actual projects alongside licensed engineers that are experts in their fields.
- Assist on a variety of projects doing such things as calculations, cost estimates, and preparing design plans.
- Work on software and systems such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Google Earth and ArcPro
- Work as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams and external subconsultants and clients.
- Go on 1-2 site visits and see the projects we work on
- Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.
