2026 Summer Camp Music and Drama Counselor

About The Position

The Summer Camp Music and Drama Counselor is responsible for leading music and drama activities and projects for children ages 6-13. The counselor will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that are both fun and educational, and that is aligned with the camp's curriculum and theme.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalent certification
Must have reliable transportation
Must be able to work at least until early August 2025
Experience working with children, particularly in music and drama
Strong knowledge and skills in music and drama techniques and methodologies
Good organizational skills
Strong communication and leadership skills
Passion for working with children and encouraging creativity through music and drama
Must be able to pass a background check

Responsibilities

Create and lead music and drama activities that are age-appropriate for the entire nine-week sessions
Activities can be but are not limited to, skits, music videos, tv segments, etc.
An in-depth curriculum expectations will be covered during the interview
Prepare and set up music and drama materials before each activity
Supervise and assist children during music and drama activities
Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
Encourage creativity and self-expression in the children through music and drama
Clean and maintain the music and drama area
Must possess exceptional collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with lead and support counselors
Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp
Participate in weekly staff meetings
Will provide support on designated Thursday field trip days.
