The Madison Area YMCA is hiring a 2026 Summer Camp Medic to support the health and safety of campers and staff throughout the summer camp season. Camp Dates: June 22, 2026 - August 27, 2026 What You'll Do: As the Summer Camp Medic, you'll serve as the primary on-site health support for camp by: Provide first aid and basic medical care to campers and staff Manage daily health needs, including minor injuries and illnesses Maintain accurate medical logs and documentation Administer medications in accordance with YMCA policies and state regulations Communicate with families, camp leadership, and staff regarding health concerns as needed Support emergency response procedures and coordinating with emergency services when necessary Ensure all camper medication is properly collected and stored upon camper arrival. Inventory and restock PPE and First Aid Supplies. Administer medication when/where needed. Work with the Association Camp Director and Camp Coordinator to create and implement impromptu activities as needed. What You'll Receive: Competitive pay Up to 40 hours per week (schedule varies) Attend 40 hours of mandatory training June 15th - June 19th, 2026 Eligibility for a 10-week stay cash incentive. This Job is for You if You: Are at least 18 years of age Hold current EMT certification Calm, organized, and able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment Can maintain confidentiality and follow established procedures Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent. Workings Conditions: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat in excess of 90F, high humidity, and rain. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time. Able to life and carry up to 50lbs Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, walking, and hiking on uneven surfaces. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency. Comfortable administering first aid and exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases is possible. Abuse Prevention Responsibilities All employees are expected to maintain boundaries, follow mandated reporting requirements, and uphold our policies and procedures to protect youth and participants. This includes attending required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors, and adhering to procedures that minimize risk. Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards.
