About The Position

The Summer Camp Health Assistant supports activities for the GT Summer Camp and Camp 2029. Assists students, parent communication, and/or managing student behavior and/or needs in the following specialties: Health Care Management

Requirements

• Must be a current Mapleton Public Schools employee.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years experience working with children in a school setting.
• May require experience in health care; working with children with various learning and physical disabilities; or working on/with networks, network management, and/or integrated learning and application.
• May require one or more of the following skills: basic English, grammar, spelling, writing, word processing, keyboarding, basic microcomputer skills, communication, and/or foreign language.
• May require operating knowledge of audiometer, vision screeners, charts, scales, blood pressure cuffs, and stethoscope, or word processing, database, and spreadsheet computer software, MS-DOS and Windows operating systems, and networks.
• Operating knowledge of general office equipment preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain attendance and support other camp-related office work, including phone calls and the preparation of instructional/informational materials (copies) as needed.
• Assist with student health care, including first aid to ill or injured students, manage all medications and medical paperwork.
• Communicate health needs with all summer camp staff (as needed) for field trips.
• Communicate with parents/families to answer any questions they may have.
• Supervise students as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
