Summer Camp Counselor- Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center
About The Position
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to welcome Summer Camp Counselors to the team at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center and Second Ward Gymnasium. These temporary, 40-hour per week positions will assist with the operations of summer day camps for youth and/or teens. They will provide direct supervision of campers and assist in planning and directing camp activities such as arts and crafts, athletics, games, aquatics, field trips, etc. In addition, the incumbents may also participate in membership promotions, communicate facility policies to patrons and overall customer service management of the facility. The dates of this temporary employment opportunity will include mandatory orientation and staff training. Specific dates will be discussed during the interview process, and the selected candidates will be expected to work 40 hours per week during the summer. Requirements
- Experience: No experience required.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Licenses and Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid
- Computer Skills: General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
- Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
- Enforce rules and regulations
- Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals
- Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
- Referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or line-person at games
- Assist with various recreational programs for all ages
- Handle inquiries and complaints from public
- Assist with special events and field trips
