Summer Camp Counselor
About The Position
The YMCA of Broome County is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors at both our Binghamton and Johnson City locations. Summer camp runs from June 29th through September 4th. If you are passionate about working with children and creating a positive and memorable summer camp experience, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity. As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of campers while providing a fun and engaging experience. You will work closely with other counselors and camp staff to plan and implement daily activities, games, and crafts. You will be a part of exposing children to a variety of STEM programs while also participating in sports activities with the campers.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead and engage campers in activities
- Must be able to clear OCFS background checking
- Must be at least 16 years of age
Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure the safety of campers at all times
- Plan and lead daily activities, games, and crafts
- Assist with meal times and snack breaks
- Provide guidance and support to campers
- Communicate with parents and guardians as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized camp environment
- Attend all required training sessions
