Under the direction and supervision of the Manager of Early Childhood Services and/or Camp Director, the Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, preparing, and participating in camp activities. Camp hours will vary from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. The position runs for 8 weeks, in addition to training days scheduled prior to the start of camp and days scheduled at end of camp for post-camp cleanout. Camp Counselors will work with children ranging in age from 2.5-6 years, in groups of 5-20 campers. Activities include but are not limited to; creative playtime, doing crafts, games, and table activities, enjoying nature and other outdoor activities, and much more. Counselors are expected to interact with campers throughout their entire shift, lead and/or assist with activities, be a team-player, and ensure campers are always safe. Additional duties include behavior management, set-up/clean-up of the camp location, craft/activity prep, and other duties as assigned. This is an at-will position. Camp Dates: June 15th - August 7th (No Camp the week prior leading up to July 4th) Orientation Dates: Starting in Mid-May with details to follow. Hours: Monday – Friday with availability between 8:00 am – 3:00 pm (Program varies in length depending on age of participants. We offer half-day and full-day camp options.) Location: Main St. Rec. Center, 185 Spring Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 PLEASE NOTE: Expectation is that you will be available for the entire 8-week program with a limit of one week of absence for a scheduled family vacation or similar that should be discussed at time of hire. Various shift options are available and can be discussed during the interview process.
