About The Position

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Part-Time Summer Camp Counselor - Nature Center to assist with the lessons and activities of the day-to-day operations of the summer camp programs at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center. The Part-Time Summer Camp Counselor - Nature Center earns a competitive salary of $13.40 - $14.51/hour, based on qualifications. Requirements

  • Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors and with children.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred; or a minimum of one (1) summer of experience in a camp setting or teaching/classroom experience preferred.
  • Some experience working with children ages 6-14, required.
  • Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers some experience or knowledge of science, relating to biology, environmental science, or nature education.

Responsibilities

  • Regular and timely attendance at work.
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere for children through camp activities.
  • Responsible for leading or assisting with the teaching of activities.
  • Actively participate in all program areas as assigned.
  • Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
  • Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
  • Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to supervisor.
  • Provide assistance and information to campers and parents regarding programs, activities, and events.
  • Arrange equipment, supplies, chairs, and tables in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled, games and programs.
  • Demonstrate proper methods of equipment storage and cleaning to safeguard facilities and equipment.
  • Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested.
  • Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
