About The Position

The Summer Camp Coordinator is a responsible, organized, and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about working with youth. The coordinator will work closely with the Camp Manager to implement and oversee the Summer Camp Program for children ages 6-14. Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 12 out of the 15 scheduled weeks.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working in a classroom, camp, or similar related experience.
  • High school diploma required, degree or enrollment in Education or related fields a plus.
  • Must enjoy a fast-paced environment and have experience working with youth
  • Proactive and efficient communicator
  • Must demonstrate organizational skills and extreme care for details
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people and show exceptional interpersonal communication skills with a capacity to discuss senstive material with staff, campers, and families
  • Ability to implement team building exercises and create a positive, fun, and welcoming camp environment
  • Proven leadership skills, comfortable overseeing a team of 20+ members
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks at once while in a fast paced and potentially stressful environment
  • Must be extremely punctual, enthusiastic, creative, and a problem-solver
  • Self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Professional demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Assist in oversight of daily activities, general camp operations, and programs, to guarantee a quality camp experience for all participants.
  • Assist with supervision, monitoring, and support of Summer Camp staff, including Camp Educators, Camp Educator Assistants, Camp Support Staff, and Volunteers. Assigning daily directions, tasks, and expectations.
  • Oversee camper check-in, check-out, lunch, snack, and recess times.
  • Enforce behavior protocols, help campers resolve conflicts appropriately, and intervene when campers are having behavior issues.
  • Assist in organizing and implementing pre-camp staff training and onboarding (as applicable).
  • Assist Summer Camp Manager in maintaining communication with families and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
  • Assure all paperwork is kept accurate, including, but not limited to rosters, transportation, attendance, health forms, etc.
  • Adhere to Discovery World’s safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Additional duties as needed including, but not limited to supervision of campers, daily upkeep of classrooms, etc.
