About The Position

The Summer Camp Coordinator plans, leads, and implements recreational and creative experiences for camp attendees and staff. This role is responsible for providing high-quality experiences to children and parents, focusing on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Minimum age of 18
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen completed within 60 days
• Ability to complete Bloodborne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment and Child Abuse Prevention training before start of 1st shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year or more of college preferred.
• Two to three years camp or related experience and relevant experience in supervision and administration of camp or youth programs preferred.
• Experience preferred in several of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
• Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance for a summer camp group and staff.
• Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
• Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
• Assists children in daily needs, such as washing hands, restroom use, tracking belongings, etc.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, drop-off/pick procedures, supervision, incident reports, accurate head counts, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
• Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
