About The Position

This is a summer internship opportunity from June through August 2026 for six seasonal hires to join the Field Services team in Boston, MA. The Summer Calibration Services Technician is responsible for performing in-field installation, calibration, and maintenance of continuous monitoring units at client sites, primarily traveling throughout the Greater Boston area (80% travel). The technician must follow all health and safety protocols, document field activity as per company standard operating procedures, demonstrate safe defensive driving, maintain a satisfactory driving record, and obtain CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) certification. Providing excellent customer service to SmartSense clients in the field is also expected.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience in a science or technology field
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent educational hours in a science or technology field of study
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proficient English language skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic mathematical and reasoning skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Travels up to 80% of the time locally (within 3 hours)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 50 lbs on a constant basis
  • Obtain and maintain CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) certification with the State of Massachusetts
  • Demonstrate safe defensive driving behavior and maintain a satisfactory driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or technology field of study
  • Experience in an environmental or industrial hygiene laboratory

Responsibilities

  • Field calibration of real-time indoor air quality sensors.
  • Reading, understanding, and traveling with system installation, calibration, and troubleshooting equipment and manuals.
  • Inspecting and troubleshooting systems onsite.
  • Using small hand tools to perform sensor repairs.
  • Documenting field activities properly before leaving the site and uploading into central system from phone or computer daily.
  • Communicating unresolved issues encountered in a timely manner.
