For over 120 years, the camp has provided guests with an opportunity to leave hectic, technology-dependent lives for a vacation in natural surroundings. A 43-acre island located on New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee, frequented by families, couples, and individuals who stay one or two weeks in simple, lakeshore cabins or tents. Guest’s days are spent relaxing, swimming, sailing, canoeing, fishing, playing tennis, reading, and talking with others. Three family-style meals are served daily. The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting with all operations of the TMI Camp. What you’ll be doing at AMC: Assist in managing the overall operation of the island during the 10-week summer season, including assisting with employee and volunteer management, administration, food service operations, finances, and facility management. Promote a positive camper experience. This includes the ability to create an environment in which campers can relax, recreate and commune with nature and each other. Maintain the island tradition of simplicity and living close to nature. Direct educational and recreational activities throughout the week for guests Fill in as acting Manager when the Manager is off island, typically 2 days per week Other duties as assigned Answer questions and provide information about the island and the AMC

Requirements

  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership experience & skills
  • Proficiency with technology, including Google, Microsoft, and QuickBooks
  • Ability to work closely with a small crew
  • Friendly, outgoing manner, and commitment to public service
  • Physical ability to carry up to 30 pounds and lift 20 pounds from the floor to waist high
  • A willingness to share and enjoy the values and lifestyle of the camp
  • A desire to mentor young adults
  • New Hampshire Commercial Boat License is required, or ability to obtain one
  • Wilderness First Aid or higher, or ability to obtain certification
  • Experience working with young adults promoting a positive environment, including a strong work ethic and cooperative spirit.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Solid management experience including personnel management.
  • General computer competency.
  • Experience in financial operations.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with and meet the needs of campers.
  • Ability to drive/learn to drive boats and pass New Hampshire Commercial Boat License test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with boats, building maintenance, and/or food service is desirable.
  • Experience and interest in making decisions with consideration for environmental sustainability.
