What You Will Be Doing The Injection Molding / Materials Engineering Intern will support advanced materials and manufacturing research focused on prototype development through material evaluation, injection molding, and data-driven iteration. In this role, you will evaluate raw material properties to inform material selection for a prototype application and assist in developing and refining injection molding processes. Additionally, you will produce and iterate on prototypes, analyze performance data to understand the relationship between material behavior and processing conditions, and communicate findings and recommendations to engineering and cross-functional stakeholders. This position provides hands-on exposure to both R&D and manufacturing environments.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or a related physical science such as Chemistry or Physics
  • Strong interest in materials behavior, manufacturing processes, and experimental problem solving
  • Experience or coursework involving data analysis and technical reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Foundational knowledge of polymer or plastics chemistry
  • Familiarity with material screening and selection principles

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to injection molding, injection molding process development, or rheology a plus
  • Prior experience in a Hands-on laboratory, co-op, or internship experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment preferred
