About The Position

Vistra is a leading Fortune 500 integrated retail electricity and power generation company, committed to innovation, reliability, and sustainability. Our Power Optimization Center (POC) is at the forefront of leveraging technology to optimize operations, improve reliability, and support energy generation. We are seeking a Summer 2026 Intern to join our POC team with a focus on developing digital agents within Vistra LLM software platform. This role offers hands-on experience in applying AI-driven automation to real-world operational challenges in the energy sector.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with Python, C#, or JavaScript ; experience with APIs and automation frameworks preferred.
• Interest in AI/ML, digital agents, and workflow automation
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Students sponsored through Optical Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT) are　NOT　eligible for this internship.
• Official transcripts must be received from your school prior to start date
• Must be in good academic standing with your school

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test digital agents to support day-to-day monitoring and diagnostics operations.
• Collaborate with engineers and analysts to identify opportunities for workflow automation and decision support tools
• Integrate digital agents with existing data pipelines, APIs, and visualization dashboards
• Document development processes and provide recommendations for scaling digital agent capabilities.
• Present project outcomes to the POC team and leadership at the end of the internship.
• Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
• Possess the ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment
• All other duties as assigned
