Empower’s Summer Internship Program offers an immersive 10-week experience designed to develop rising professionals with an interest in financial services. Our interns thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment while gaining valuable insights into our business, culture, and mission. Each intern is paired with a dedicated manager, mentor, and executive sponsor, and will work on a meaningful summer project. This program includes: Hands on-experience with real business initiatives Exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional teams Networking opportunities Professional and personal development workshops At the conclusion of the internship, each intern presents their work to business leaders, showcasing the impact they’ve made. As a Planning and Advice Intern, you will play a key role in elevating client engagement and planning experience initiatives within Empower’s Advisory & Distribution organization. Your dedicated project assignment will focus on Executive Services and our newest Boston Investor Center, where you’ll help identify and improvement enhancements to the client experience that strengthen Empower’s commitment to personalized, high-quality financial advice and planning.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university (Bachelor’s or Master’s program)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Available for full 10-week program (May 27 – July 31, 2026)
  • Must reside near or be able to reliably commute to Boston, MA (in-person internship)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship (CPT/OPT not supported)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder interactions and project reporting
  • Ability to interpret data and identify client and efficiency opportunities
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail when managing multiple requests and maintaining documentation
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams
  • Self-directed with a proactive approach to learning

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of academic progress toward a bachelor’s degree
  • Expected to graduate and be available for full-time employment by mid-2027
  • Preferred majors: Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or other relevant business fields
  • Experience with research, data analytics, process mapping, or workflow documentation
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations
  • Familiarity with financial planning, client experience, or operational process improvement concepts

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Executive Services and Boston Investor Center leadership to assess client touchpoints and identify opportunities for service improvement
  • Support process mapping and documentation that streamline high-value client interactions
  • Analyze feedback and service metrics to uncover insights that inform efficiency and satisfaction goals
  • Collaborate across internal teams to ensure initiatives align with operational priorities and client experience standards
  • Contribute to presentations that communicate findings, recommendations, and measurable impacts to business leaders
