About The Position

Our Gridtern Program provides current college students the ability to gain practical experience within the energy industry. Your summer will begin on Monday, June 15, 2026, and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking opportunities, community involvement, and most importantly, have fun! Our Distribution Planning & Asset Management team is responsible for developing recommendations for necessary modifications and improvements to sub-transmission and distribution facilities. This work is crucial for enhancing the system's resilience against adverse weather and modernizing the grid to meet future capacity demands while addressing increasing customer service expectations. The team aims to achieve these objectives in a cost-effective manner that optimizes existing systems and minimizes environmental impacts. As a Gridtern, you will assist with system analysis and reviews for both short-term and long-term planning studies, which may include evaluating customer load requests, generation interconnection requests, long-term load forecasting, ratings evaluation, and more. You will be based in Syracuse, NY, working in a Hybrid format for the summer. You must reside within a commutable distance to the designated work location during this period.

Requirements

  • Availability to start on the program start date, June 15, 2026, and work full-time (40 hours a week) for the duration of the summer
  • Must be registered as a full-time student and continue your education full-time through the Fall 2026 semester
  • Pursuing an Associates, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Have accumulated 18 or more credits and be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (including CPT & OPT)
