About The Position

As we help clear the path to a greener future, we need to ensure our people continue to power our progress. The world of energy is changing faster than ever! Our Gridtern Program provides current college students the ability to gain practical experience within the energy industry. Your summer will begin on Monday, June 15, 2026, and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking opportunities, community involvement, and most importantly, have fun! Our Integrated Planning and Solutions (IPAS) team at National Grid is responsible for coordinating long-term, cross-system planning that integrates electrification adoption, electric network upgrades, and gas system investments. The team develops data-driven models and digital tools to support scenario planning, risk assessment, and investment prioritization, ensuring the grid can safely and reliably meet future customer needs amid increasing electrification and renewable integration. IPAS supports regulatory filings such as the Capital Investment Plan and Distributed System Implementation Plan and novel tool development and validation for planning and operations such as supporting Automated Distribution Management Systems and Distributed Energy Resource Management System implementation at National Grid in addition to facilitating stakeholder engagement and collaboration across utilities to align planning efforts and regulatory requirements. In the broader business context, IPAS plays a critical role in enabling National Grid’s mission by driving strategic, integrated infrastructure investments that support decarbonization, grid modernization, and customer-focused service reliability. This integrated approach helps National Grid proactively manage the evolving energy landscape while maintaining affordability and resilience.
