Collaborate with a team of peers to research and propose solutions to a current business challenge. Participate in a mentoring circle led by an early career champion. Interact with GDIT leaders. How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own Our Cyber Security Summer Intern will help ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems across GDIT or client organizations. The ideal intern will have knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions. You’ll also have an interest in understanding the principles, methods, and tools for evaluating information systems security features against a set of specified security requirements. You will work with analysts to understand business processes and promoting data integrity. You will have the opportunity to develop consulting skills, gather and research data, develop analysis as well as contribute to the creation of deliverables. A Day in the Life Collaborate with other members of the teams supporting GDIT's Cyber Center of Excellence and Eclipse and Everest Digital Accelerators. Prepare reports or presentations on project status and outcomes. Create and modify new and/or existing technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials. Conduct analysis on industry capabilities and align with customer use cases. Perform information assurance activities such as reviewing vulnerability management reports, applying secure configurations, and related activities. Participate in regular team meetings, technical exchange sessions, and ideation meetings.

Requirements

  • Understanding of different operating systems and their potential security vulnerabilities
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • Desire to learn security frameworks, common attack methods, and response processes.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Nimble mindset and genuine intellectual curiosity
  • Intuitiveness with an ability to identify and solve complex problems related to rapidly changing technology
  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)
  • Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field from a United States-based college or university.
  • At the start of this internship, you should have at least one year of school completed.
  • Ability to work in the office full-time

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a certification in the field of cyber security (e.g., CompTIA Security+, SCCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), CC (Certified in Cybersecurity), Information Assurance, or Certified Ethical Hacker)
  • Basic knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in engineering, information systems, and related technical support.
  • Basic knowledge of related hardware and software
  • Basic understanding of data manipulation of Indicators of Compromise (IOC’s)
  • Basic understanding of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
  • Basic understanding of Vulnerability Management (Vulnerability Scanning and Patching)
  • Basic understanding of Information Assurance
