Oldcastle APG, Inc.'s 2026 Summer Internship Program is designed to provide a professional environment for undergraduate students to gain real-world experience at a global industry-leading organization. The program will run from late May/early June through early August and will provide exposure to valuable learning opportunities within the corporate functions of the organization through assignments, projects, and collaboration. This is the perfect opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and creativity to a growth-oriented company with headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The Oldcastle IT team is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Automation Intern to support our security team in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated security solutions. This internship offers hands-on experience with security tools, scripting, and real-world cyber defense operations, while working closely with cybersecurity analysts and engineers.

Requirements

  • Students pursuing Bachelor's Degree Program in Junior Year of College or Third year of University (Anticipated Graduation date of Fall 2026 or Spring 2027)
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles (network security, threat vectors, access control)
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar)
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Linux and/or Windows)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to SIEM/SOAR platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, Cortex XSOAR)
  • Basic understanding of cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with APIs, RESTful services, or automation frameworks
  • Knowledge of security tools such as vulnerability scanners, EDR, or firewalls
  • Interest in DevSecOps or security orchestration

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining security automation scripts and workflows
  • Support the automation of incident response, threat detection, and vulnerability management processes
  • Help integrate security tools with SIEM, SOAR, and cloud platforms
  • Analyze security alerts and assist in reducing false positives through automation
  • Document automation processes, scripts, and security playbooks
  • Participate in security testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve security efficiency and scalability
