About The Position

In collaboration with two renowned medical schools, Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, NewYork-Presbyterian is consistently recognized as a leader in medical education, ground-breaking research, and innovative, patient-centered clinical care. During Summer 2025, NYP will be offering four (4) 8 week long paid internship opportunities for qualified students interested in a career in Capital Project Management. This internship will seek to reveal, explain, and foster innovative design thinking in healthcare. The overall goal for this pursuit is to ensure that healthcare design is always being reinvented, and the best and brightest in the world of design are attracted to the discipline of health care design. As healthcare design projects seek to challenge convention consistently, we believe the best project leaders will also be interested in being a part of our capital projects at NewYork-Presbyterian. This six-week internship provided an invaluable opportunity to project management principles in a dynamic healthcare environment, contributing to impactful, real-world improvements in hospital design and construction. The internship will take place at the following NYP campuses: Weill Cornell Medical Center, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, and Westchester. These exciting internship opportunities will take place from June 2 - July 25, 2025 on site in New York, NY. These positions are fully in-person.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a Master's program.

Responsibilities

  • Gain an understanding of the hospital's capital project management processes, policies, and systems.
  • Review the scope of ongoing and planned capital projects.
  • Develop potential strategies to reimagine aspects of the design that may improve project efficiency, mitigate delays, and/or provide an innovative solution.
  • Codify a design thinking process that encourages innovation in design thinking in healthcare capital projects.
  • Consolidate findings and finalize recommendations for project optimization design innovation.
  • Conduct a presentation summarizing internship contributions.
