About The Position

The Imaging Group at the Advanced Photon Source (APS) is developing and testing new AI/ML tools to accelerate processing and analysis of tomography datasets collected at APS beamlines. As synchrotron facilities enable increasingly rapid data acquisition, these large datasets can also serve as training corpora for neural networks that support experiment control, real-time feedback, and automated analysis. In this summer project, the intern will evaluate selected AI/ML-based tomography processing and analysis tools and adapt promising approaches for robust, general use at the beamline. A central focus will be applying, benchmarking, and improving 3D AI/ML segmentation methods for tomography imaging.
