The SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) Field Technician III is responsible for the accurate designation, documentation, and mapping of utilities in rural and urban environments. This role requires advanced technical expertise, leadership in the field, and coordination with clients, utility owners, and service providers to ensure high-quality project outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Utility Designation and Documentation Designate utilities using geophysical equipment Perform field surveys, document projects, and conduct vacuum excavation for utility exposure Collect data and complete vault diagrams for 3D QL-B mapping Project Management and Leadership Lead 2D and 3D QL-B mapping projects with up to two crews Oversee vacuum excavation and backfilling under complex conditions Coordinate with clients, field crews, office staff, project managers, utility, owners, and service providers Technical Proficiency Operate geophysical and survey equipment for utility mapping Use RTK GPR and total stations for accurate horizontal and vertical data collection Collect vertical data for gravity flow systems using levels Reporting and Documentation Prepare Structures Data Reports and analyze utility plans and records Safety and Compliance Maintain required safety certifications and ensure adherence to safety standards This role is ideal for experienced SUE professionals who thrive in dynamic environments, are skilled at leading field operations, and enjoy opportunities to travel as part of their work.
