About The Position

Under the administrative supervision of the designated site management, the SUD Administrative Assistant/Person-Centered Case Manager (SUD AA/PCCM) at SCMHCC is responsible for supporting the clinical programs and services offered by SCMHCC. The SUD AA/PCCM shall operate in accordance with the policies set forth by SCMHCC and shall abide by all applicable laws and regulations. The SUD AA/PCCM is responsible for handing clerical and case management duties including but not limited to answering the phone, word processing, collecting client monies, client file maintenance, maintaining client confidentiality, and assisting the site management in completing the daily administrative operations. Person-Centered Case Managers must be a Kansas Certified Peer Mentor (KCPM), or eligible to become one, and have completed the KDADS approved (15 hour) peer mentor training as well as certified as a Person-Centered Case Manager. The duties of this position include case management type services for the clients served, individual and group meetings related to peer mentoring services, and monitoring client’s behavior while at community-based events or appointments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Must be certified by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services as a Person-Centered Case Manager prior to beginning employment in this position.
  • Completion of the KDADS approved peer mentor 15-hour training.
  • Experience in administrative, secretarial, or clerical tasks including but not limited to customer service communication skills, proficient computer skills, experience working with an EHR, experience in using Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Teams, and a basic understanding of Excel preferred.
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be adaptable to change, prioritize multiple tasks, and have effective organizational skills.
  • Read and understand the Behavioral Health Services Peer Mentor Code of Ethics and sign the statement affirming adherence to this code and sign Merit of Public Trust.
  • Must be CPR certified; if not currently certified must become CPR certified within 6 months.
  • The ability to adapt to change and work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of one-year paid experience providing case management or workforce development services to similar populations.
  • Although not mandatory, persons that are bilingual (English and Spanish) will be given strong consideration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Capable of maintaining a team spirit and the ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Display consistent, good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with target populations
  • Must be able to pass background/security check and drug and alcohol testing in accordance with SCMHCC policies.
  • Employees who have been diagnosed with any substance use disorder or behavioral addiction/compulsion must have a sustained minimum of two consecutive years of abstinence from all intoxicating substances and symptoms of their chemical and/or behavioral addiction; and must be in full sustained remission.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with clerical aspects of SUD programs. Clerical duties may include but are not limited to assuring that copies of all official program communications and client related materials are kept in the designed files, duplicating records and papers, collecting and delivering mail or other papers, word processing and collecting client fees as they directly impact the relationship between the client and SCMHCC.
  • Maintain client and program confidentiality as required by federal law and adhere to strict boundaries and professional ethics in caring for others.
  • Maintain financial records as required by SCMHCC. Check client accounts and other fiscal records for accuracy.
  • Work cooperatively with the administrative office to complete the required paperwork (e.g. client balance reports, submission of weekly/monthly reports, and other information as requested).
  • Work with assigned counselor to provide case management type services to the assigned population with the goal of helping the newly recovering clients to transition into a recovery lifestyle.
  • Provide group and other educational presentations as required.
  • Provide a designated amount of billable services as set forth by SCMHCC policy.
  • Maintain a record of all case management and peer mentoring activities and documentation of the wellness plan within the EHR system.
  • Be available for case staffing conferences when requested by your supervisor.
  • Assist SCMHCC’s counseling and administrative staff with KDADS compliance and/or funding source audit conditions.
  • Conduct Crisis Intervention as needed.
  • Perform other job-related functions as directed by the designated site SUD Coordinator.
