About The Position

SeaView Community Services is seeking a dedicated Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to join our team at the Recovery Center in Seward, Alaska. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Alaska certification/licensure (or ability to obtain) as a Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDC-I).
  • Experience providing individual and group counseling for substance use disorders.
  • Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria, addiction treatment, and trauma-informed care.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a residential or outpatient treatment setting.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations for behavioral health programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to clients with substance use disorders.
  • Conduct ASAM Assessments in line with best practices.
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, case managers, medical providers, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive client care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to meet compliance and funding requirements.
  • Support clients in developing coping strategies, relapse management plans, and life skills for sustained recovery.
