The work of the Success Mentor requires a long-term commitment to providing support to students in elementary and/or middle school. An effective mentor establishes and upholds a relationship with the child and family over a period of at least twelve months or longer, if possible, supporting their social-emotional development. Children generally live in uniformity and habit. The longer someone spends time with them, the higher probability that the children will be successful. Kids who have good relationships with their mentors have higher chances of attaining academic success. All applicants must be able to function as a part of a team inclusive of a Blended Learning Math Instructor, a Blended Learning ELA and Writing Instructor/Mentor and a Student/Family Mentor.
