Work closely with the bus operator and school staff in assisting special education students on the bus and in all emergencies. Operate the bus side lift for loading and unloading students in wheelchairs. Secure wheelchairs and other special needs equipment into place on the bus with the help of the bus operator. Assist the bus operator in maintaining discipline on the bus. Respond to dispatch requests. Assist in keeping assigned bus clean. Comply with all requirements of Transportation Services directives, Board policies, and State Board of Education regulations. Attend parent and school conferences when requested. Become familiar with specific equipment needs of exceptional education students. Prepare reports (incidents, referrals, survey forms, etc.) for documentation purposes. Assist in required bus evacuation drills. Exhibit professionalism to include attendance, attire, attitude, and other directives from the District. Administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines. Revised: 07/11/23
