About The Position

Reporting to the Community Services Supervisor, Substitute Traffic Supervisor needed to work on an on-call, as-needed basis when regularly scheduled staff are unavailable. This position controls and directs motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic in school crossing areas on days that school is in session. May manually operate traffic lights and make reports of accidents or unsafe traffic situations. Essential functions include, but are not limited to: Assist students and their families in safely crossing streets near school zones by managing pedestrian and vehicle interactions with authority and care. Monitor pedestrian and vehicular activity at designated crossing locations. Safely stop traffic to allow pedestrians, especially school children, to cross the street. May manually operate traffic lights and make reports of accidents or unsafe traffic situations. Minimum qualifications include Minimum qualifications include high school diploma, ability to use arm and hand signals. Pay range starts at $22.73/hr eligible for COLA increases This a part time non-benefitted position Must be available be available to work 3 hours per day when called on a as needed bases per day, requiring morning and afternoon shirts for all Burlington Schools locations The selected candidate shall be required to submit to a full background check and will be required to satisfactorily complete Burlington Police Department’s approved training programs.
