About The Position
Kokua is seeking substitute teachers in Four Corners and across Houston, TX for the 2025-26 school year. Kokua, meaning 'to come together to fulfill a need' in Hawaiian, connects talented individuals with K-12 schools to address the teacher shortage and provide students with positive role models. Founded by a former teacher, Kokua has been operating for over 13 years, building a diverse network of dedicated substitute teachers who aim to make a difference in students' lives by creating safe, supportive learning environments and sparking a love for learning.
Requirements
- 1+ year(s) working with students in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, camps, etc.)
- Minimum of 48 college credit hours
- Confidence to manage a classroom of students
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Strong belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world
- Ability to pass state & federal background checks

- Step in where needed throughout the school day to support your campus (could include lunch/recess supervision, hall and bathroom monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season)
