About The Position

This is an application to be added to our Substitute, on-call Classified Paraeducator pool. Once your application materials are submitted and reviewed, you will be notified if you will advance to the testing & training phase of the recruitment process. Description of the classifications of Paraeducator jobs that will be available as a classified substitute: RSP/SDC: Under the direction of an assigned certificated staff to assist in the supervision and instruction of special education students; relieving teachers of clerical tasks, and assisting students by providing and developing students' adaptive and behavioral skills. SH: Severely Handicapped - Under the direction of an assigned certificated staff assists in the instruction, supervision and training of individuals or groups of students with a variety of special education needs. May service students with any of, or combination of, the following conditions: mental retardation, autism, severe physical/medical involvement (i.e., cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, etc.), communication disorders (to include non­verbal), hearing/vision impairment, learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, behavior disorders, and to perform related duties as assigned. SC: Special Circumstances - Under the direction of an assigned certificated staff to provide support, monitoring, and supervision for an individual special education student with special circumstance, to provide support to other students in class and/or a teacher when individualized support is not required, and to do related work as may be required

Requirements

  • MUST have a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
  • Have one of the folliwing:
  • An associates or higher college degree; or
  • The equivalent of 60 semester or 90 quarter units of college credit; or
  • Pass the Perris Union High School District proficiency examination
  • Qualified applicants MUST be available to attend a Virtual Substitute Paraeducator training before moving forward
  • Successful applicants must complete the following before employment:
  • Fingerprint Background Clearance from the Department of Justice and FBI
  • Tuberculosis Screening Clearance
  • Drug Screening Clearance
  • Online Mandated Training through Keenan SafeSchools and Hour Zero

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision and instruction of special education students
  • Relieve teachers of clerical tasks
  • Assist students by providing and developing students' adaptive and behavioral skills
  • Assist in the instruction, supervision and training of individuals or groups of students with a variety of special education needs
  • Provide support, monitoring, and supervision for an individual special education student with special circumstance
  • Provide support to other students in class and/or a teacher when individualized support is not required
