About The Position

Job Title: Substitute Employee (Teachers and Paraprofessionals) 2025-2026 Reports to: Human Resources, Principal, Supervisors, Teachers as applicable Pay Grade: Substitute Wage Status: Non-Exempt Hours per day: 7.5 Major Responsibilities and Duties: Arrive promptly at the assigned time and location to gather necessary materials and receive directions. Report directly to the front office for classroom assignments and instructions. Complete the Substitute Sign-In Report to ensure proper reporting to the Payroll Office. Notify the school office before leaving campus regarding any serious issues or whether you are expected to return the following day. Classroom Instruction and Student Support Provide meaningful instruction to students in the assigned classroom while the regular teacher is absent. Teach with understanding and respect for the individuality of each student. Review and implement the regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives. Maintain student attendance records and any other required documentation. Perform any special duties assigned to the regular classroom teacher. Supervise classroom dismissal, including for recess and transitions. Behavior and Classroom Management Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment. Become familiar with and follow campus emergency drill procedures and safety procedures. Report student injuries, illnesses, or serious discipline issues to the school nurse and/or campus administration. Inform the school office if a student needs medication— only authorized district staff may administer medication . Supervise students closely and manage classroom behavior in alignment with school expectations. Professional Conduct and Collaboration Work in a positive, cooperative manner with paraprofessionals, support staff, and all campus personnel. Demonstrate willingness and flexibility to accept changes in assignment (grade level or subject) at the request of a building administrator. Dress professionally. Professional casual attire is recommended. End-of-Day Procedures Return all instructional materials, equipment, and keys to their appropriate locations. Leave the classroom in good order, turn off lights, and complete any appropriate housekeeping tasks. Notify the school office of any significant incidents or concerns before departing. Additional Duties Fulfill all other duties as assigned by campus or district administration. Supervisory Responsibilities: Students Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
