About The Position

This position is based at a large open-pit copper mining operation located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona, along U.S. Highway 191. The site has been in continuous operation for decades and includes multiple concentrators, crushed-ore leach pads and stacking systems, a run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system, solvent extraction (SX) plants, and electrowinning (EW) tank houses producing copper cathode. Morenci is a unique mining community offering access to outdoor recreation such as hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, and parks. Housing may be available for eligible employees, or a monthly housing allowance may be offered for those required to work on-site, subject to assignment terms and client guidelines. Community amenities may include recreational facilities and family services depending on availability. As an Electrical Technician placed through Turner Staffing Group, you will support mining and processing operations by performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and system optimization work. Responsibilities include: Removal, repair, and installation of electrical components and systems Performing diagnostics, advanced troubleshooting, and process optimization Safely completing routine and non-routine repairs and construction activities Performing preventative maintenance including installation, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment such as: Substations and power distribution systems Switchgear, motors, and motor controls Process control systems Instrumentation and pneumatic equipment Maintaining and troubleshooting AC/DC drives, PLCs, overhead cranes, control systems, and low- to medium-voltage equipment Calibrating field transmitters, transducers, and weigh scales Performing installations and renovations in compliance with regulatory standards Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions Participating in safety and environmental initiatives Mentoring or training other electrical personnel as needed

Requirements

  • One of the following is required: Completion of a certified Electronics, Electrical, and/or Instrumentation program, OR Minimum of four (4) years of experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance, OR Associate degree or trade school certification in a related field and two (2) years of relevant industrial experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical circuits and connected equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, prints, and schematics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ownership of required personal tools (or ability to obtain them within 90 days of hire)
  • Ability to demonstrate required competencies and pass written and/or practical technical and safety assessments

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with low, medium, and high voltages
  • Experience with diagnostic electrical test equipment
  • Experience operating and working from a bucket truck
  • Knowledge of powerline construction and maintenance practices
  • Experience operating equipment such as boom trucks and backhoes
  • Knowledge of transformer installation and maintenance
