About The Position

Probst Electric is seeking a skilled Substation Construction Manager to lead the execution of high‑voltage substation projects across Texas. In this pivotal field‑based role, you’ll guide crews, coordinate with project stakeholders, and ensure construction excellence from the first dig to energization. You’ll be the person who keeps projects safe, efficient, high‑quality, and on schedule—while helping strengthen the power‑delivery infrastructure millions rely on.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in utility‑scale substation construction, including supervisory or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of high‑voltage substation construction (69kV–500kV) and associated equipment
  • Solid understanding of OSHA, NESC, and utility safety standards
  • Effective leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, one‑lines, and technical specifications
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout Texas and occasionally beyond
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EPC or utility‑scale substation projects
  • Journeyman Lineman background
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6)
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid

Responsibilities

  • Manage substation construction projects from start to finish, including planning, coordination, and onsite leadership.
  • Lead and oversee field crews and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project plans, safety requirements, and production goals.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, safety teams, and client representatives to maintain smooth project execution.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks to verify compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Track schedules, budgets, equipment, materials, and manpower needs to keep projects on course.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve field challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and incident documentation.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
