Substance Use Counselor (LCDC)(LCDC-I)
About The Position

We are searching for a full time Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor-Intern for our Houston Adult Outpatient Program. Our Houston location provides out-patient substance use counseling services to people over the age of 18. Bilingual Spanish speaking strongly preferred. AAMA has proudly been empowering learners and inspiring leaders for approximately 53 years in the areas of education, prevention and counseling and workforce readiness.
Requirements
- LCDC or LCDC-I in good standing Texas
- Previous experience counseling in the substance use field
- Valid Texas Driver License and clear driving record
- Drug screen and background check required
- Monday through Friday with three evenings a week
- Ability to professionally communicate
- Ability to maintain calm in tense situations
- Ability to organize
- Ability to write well for client documentation
- Ability to build rapport with our clients and inspire them to build confidence and leadership skills by demonstrating it yourself
- Ability to respond appropriately in an emergency or crisis
- Knowledge of DSMV and ASAM criteria
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual Spanish speaking strongly preferred
- Familiarity with CMBHS
