About The Position

Substance Use Aide is a care provider who provides care to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance use and mental health) issues. They recognize the individuals we serve often have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. They demonstrate a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. They will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. Substance Use Aide will normally report directly to the Nursing Supervisor unless assigned to an adjunct program with the Ozark Center. Requirements

  • Typical physical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to provide direct care to patients and to operate telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
  • Requires physical, sensory and cognitive abilities.
  • Sufficient sensory-motor dexterity to complete motor skills tasks such as operating a keyboard, telephone, scanner, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
  • Must be able to make a bed, handle linens, serve meals, organize storage spaces, and practice safety procedures within corporate policy.
  • Must occasionally deal with irate individuals.
  • Must be able to work in high paced, stressful situations.
  • Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours.
  • TB test upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Meets the total needs of unit patients as determined by the Nursing Supervisor.
  • Recognize acute need, reporting same to the Nursing Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed by the Nursing Supervisor.
  • Collect and monitor clinical demographic, statistic, and research data for the Disaster State Response Grant (DSRG), via in person, telephone, or telehealth communication.
